Privacy Policy

This is the personal and professional site of Kemal Whyte, founder and CEO of Rebel X Brands in Austin, Texas. This policy explains what the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It describes what this site actually does, which is a good deal less than most privacy policies assume.

What this site does not do

This site sells nothing. There is no cart, no checkout, and no payment of any kind. It never asks for or receives a payment card, a billing address, a shipping address, a date of birth, or a government identifier. No account is created for you and no password is stored.

What the site collects

Your email address, only if you give it. The newsletter form asks for an email address. Submitting it is the only way the site collects personal information about you directly. If you indicate which founder playbook you want, that preference is stored alongside your email so we can send the right one.

Anything you write to us. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive whatever you choose to include, such as your name, email address, and phone number.

Ordinary technical data. Like nearly every website, this one records standard request information: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and pages viewed. This is generated automatically, not entered by you.

Why we use it

Email addresses are used to send the newsletter and the founder playbooks. That is all. We do not sell, rent, or trade email addresses. We do not pass them to the Rebel X Brands retail brands for marketing unless you separately subscribed to one of those brands. Technical data is used to keep the site working and to understand which pages people actually read.

Who processes data for us

The site runs on Shopify, which hosts it and stores newsletter signups and contact form submissions, processing that data on our behalf under its own terms.

We use Google Analytics to measure traffic. Google receives the technical data described above and sets cookies to do so. We do not send Google your email address.

Some pages embed YouTube video and X content. Loading those means the relevant provider may set its own cookies and receive your IP address, under their terms rather than ours.

An email service provider stores your address and playbook preference in order to send the newsletter.

Otherwise we disclose personal information only where the law requires it.

Cookies

The site uses cookies necessary for it to function, cookies set by Shopify, and the analytics cookies described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking analytics cookies will not stop the site working.

Your choices and your rights

Unsubscribing. Every newsletter email carries an unsubscribe link. Using it stops the email immediately and you do not need to contact us first.

Access, correction, deletion. You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to the address at the bottom of this page and we will act on it.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation. We honour these requests wherever you live rather than checking your jurisdiction first. We do not sell personal information as California law defines that term.

How long we keep it

Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle the enquiry and for a reasonable period after. Analytics data follows Google Analytics retention settings.

Children

This site is not intended for children. It discusses an industry with a minimum age of 21 across most of the United States. Do not submit personal information here if you are under 18. If we learn we hold a child's information, we will delete it.

Security

Data sits on Shopify infrastructure and travels over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure and we will not claim otherwise. Because the site handles no payment or financial data, what is at risk is limited to what is described above.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version appears here with a new date at the top.
